Oriental Massage Traditional
Chinese medicine (TCM) is grounded in thousands of years of clinical
practice. In modern China, western therapies are used alongside traditional
ones, and often in conjunction. There is a lot that may be learned from
their view of health.
TCM views the body as a mini ecosystem, with the mind and body being
intimately connected. The goal is to ensure free movement of blood,
body fluids, and Qi, or vital energy, to all parts of the body. When
this movement is impeded, by injuries or stressors, an imbalance occurs
and will, over time, lead to disease.
When blockages to the flow of Qi are released, the body’s internal ability
to heal itself is strengthened.
Traditional Chinese Medicine practices, such as, acupressure is often
used for balancing energy using a technique based on the same ideas
as acupuncture. Acupressure involves placing physical pressure by hand,
elbow, or with the aid of various devices on different acupuncture points
on the surface of the body. These practices are used without oil using
small, circular motions of fingers or palms, and acupressure, for balancing
energy.
